Solving Problems

Now that we have a sense of the different zones we might be working within, we’re going to look at some practical examples of problems that might arise while you’re on placement, and the different ways we can solve them. When we go through them, it’s helpful to imagine what “zone” you’d be in when you came across these and in particular, to consider which ones feel in that “danger zone” area.  

Meeting your team 

Don’t worry though, we’d never send you in to solving problems without a firm team of people behind you. Think of the team as your problem solving gang, each with their own specialist skillset and set of abilities. The handy diagram below will help you understand who is around to support you in your placement.  We call it the scotch egg of volunteering. 

With you at the centre, the local host or leader around you, the national partner and then WCIA.   

We can all be contacted at any time to support you.  But there will be certain situations in which different layers of support will be more useful than others.
