For Teachers: Teacher Training and Courses
Our CPD offer for teachers (Continuous Professional Development) is developed in partnership with educational professionals and it directly addresses the requirements expressed by our schools network. We also write CPD for new educational initiatives in Cymru and provide bespoke workshops.
Currently, we have three courses available for self-study.
Our courses develop new approaches within the classroom based on up-to-date ideas and we use as flexible a format as possible to enable our teachers to study in as flexible a way as they need.
Future Thinking
The first, in Future Thinking, explores concepts associated with developing a sense of a preferred future with young people. It helps teachers support understanding that human societies are complex and dynamic. Taking positive action to develop solutions on issues that affect us all, this course supports student leadership, creativity and vision building.
Creating Ethical, Informed Citizenship
The second course explores the purpose of creating ethical, informed citizenship within the Curriculum Cymru. As teachers, we are always looking to develop young people’s knowledge of global challenges. This course enables teachers to explore tools and approaches that will empower pupils to make decisions that positively impact their lives and the lives of others, exploring experientially the ethical and practical dilemmas of values-led citizenship.
How to Tackle Controversial Issues
The third course explores how to tackle controversial issues in the classroom. In a world that is increasingly becoming polarised, our teachers describe how important it is to tackle controversies yet, in doing so, they know they will be inviting difficult conversations and uncertain outcomes. In this course, we offer some different techniques to empower schools to discuss safely what we see around us.
At Cymru Global, we believe that global learning is fundamental both globally and in our day to day lives. We strive to deliver the highest quality events, training, classroom materials and courses for teachers, empowering them with new approaches, skills and techniques. All our key messages and methodologies are based on sound educational research and our ongoing collaboration with teachers enables us to continually evaluate our offer in line with an evolving curriculum. We have supported in the implementation of the Curriculum for Wales, developed education policy work, authored high-quality classroom materials and delivered training to thousands of teachers in Wales.
All of our inset courses are interactive and designed as a series of hands-on workshops, sharing best practice, and covering a wide range of skills, competencies and subjects. Our training ranges in length from self study to one or two hour twilights, to two days. We deliver across Wales in the most relevant language for the participants in attendance. All materials are available bilingually and are freely available to participants electronically for use in school.
