CARDIFF, 5 March 2026

The great, great grandson of the woman who opened Wales’ Temple of Peace in 1938 points to lessons from the past as WCIA unveils new name.

The Welsh Centre for International Affairs has today revealed its new brand identity – Cymru Global.

The name reflects the organisation’s past, its people, and the changes they want to see in the world.

At the brand launch event at the historic Temple of Peace & Health in Cardiff, where the organisation has been based since 1973, Chief Executive Hayley Morgan shared the charity’s 50 year vision and purpose – to build a nation of global citizens who learn, collaborate and act for peace, social and climate justice.

She then shared video messages from two descendants of Minnie James, the woman from Dowlais who opened the Temple of Peace in 1938.

James Bull – Minnie James’ great, great grandson – drew comparisons with today’s world and spoke of the need to repeatedly choose peace. He said:

“We’re living in uncertain times when peace can feel distant and trust can feel strained – but from the past we’ve learned that stability is never guaranteed and peace must be protected, nurtured and chosen, again and again.

“For my great, great grandchildren I hope that they remain committed to dialogue over division and compassion over conflict, and I hope they feel – as I do today – proud of where they come from but responsible for where the world goes next.”
