Introducing Cymru Global: A new chapter
Today the Welsh Centre for International Affairs becomes Cymru Global – an organisation rooted in hope, connection and the belief that the people of Wales can play a part in shaping a better world.
For more than 50 years, our organisation has stood for connection, peacebuilding, global learning, cultural understanding, and action that reaches far beyond Cymru. Today, we are proud to announce the next evolution of that mission as we share our new brand and 50-year strategy.
This new identity has been over a year in the making; the result of deep reflection, creativity, and collaboration. Many of our partners, stakeholders, supporters, and team members took part in shaping this change. It has been a truly collective effort, and Cymru Global reflects not just who we are, but who we aspire to be in the world.
The world we work in is changing fast. The challenges we face today are interconnected and global.
We only have to look at this week’s news to know that our mission is as vital today as it was when we first opened the doors to Wales’ Temple of Peace & Health, in 1938.
In these uncertain times, there’s an opportunity for people who value peace, truth and nature to step forward to protect the wellbeing of current and future generations.
Our communities, especially young people, expect organisations to be clear, open, welcoming, and future-focused. We realised our name needed to reflect that too.
Cymru Global communicates exactly what matters to us:
- Our identity as an organisation deeply rooted in Cymru
- Our commitment to global citizenship and international solidarity
- Our belief that local action and global change are inseparable
The new name is simpler, more accessible, and easier to understand. It invites people in. It speaks to schools and educators, campaigners and young volunteers, heritage communities, researchers, and anyone who cares about the world we share.
With our bold new brand, we aim to connect people across Cymru to each other, and to the wider world.
Although our name has changed, our history remains at the heart of everything.
The new design honours the many evolutions of our organisation since the post-war peace movements that shaped us. You will see visual echoes of past logos, colours inspired by historic materials, and shapes drawn from our archives. This continuity was important to us: we wanted a brand that respected where we’ve come from while giving us room to grow for the next 50 years and more.
This transformation has been shaped by:
- Team workshops across programmes
- Conversations with partners and community groups
- Input from educators, activists, youth volunteers, and alumni
- Feedback from hundreds of stakeholders across Cymru and beyond
Your voices influenced everything; from the name, to the narrative, to how we communicate our mission and values.
We’re proud that Cymru Global is an identity built with our community, not just for it.
Our ambitions are bold.
Our aim is to build a nation of global citizens who learn, collaborate and act for peace, social and climate justice.
Over the next decade and beyond, Cymru Global will:
- Connect people across borders, cultures, and generations
- Build partnerships that strengthen peace, climate action, education, volunteering, and heritage work
- Inspire action toward a more just, peaceful, and sustainable world
This rebrand goes beyond a logo or website. It marks the beginning of a renewed commitment to global citizenship rooted in Welsh values, creativity, and compassion.
