The idea of global learning grew from the early 20th Century, when World Wars One and Two caused societies across the world to question how we were working alongside one another and asking how we could better understand and apply principles including equality, peace and collaboration.

Since that time, the concept of global learning has evolved to encompass a broad programme that can help us to prosper on our planet. This programme includes knowledge of the world, the skills that enable us to navigate in a constantly shifting world, and the attitudes that can be created by being able to tell our stories in empathetic communities.

Our activities for pupils have been co-created with schools and young people and they follow national curriculum Welsh guidance.

Our CPD offer for teachers (Continuous Professional Development) is developed in partnership with educational professionals and it directly addresses the requirements expressed by our schools network.

Our youth projects are co-created with young people and they are expressive, participative, inclusive, empowering and educative. We recently secured our Youth Quality Mark and are proud to provide high quality experiences and resources. If you’d like to get involved take a look!

Our adult learning programmes are co-created according to the interests and needs of the organisations we work with. We are passionate about making global citizenship accessible and relevant for everyone and our programmes and resources are there to support people to make those links in their day-to-day lives.

Global Learning is at the heart of what we do. Our programmes have grown and evolved with the changing needs of Cymru and the wider world, taking us into schools and youth spaces, higher education, communities, and conversations with policy makers. Wherever we work, the aim is the same: to amplify voices, share perspectives, and shape a fairer future.

We focus on sparking curiosity and helping learners take that first step in exploring the world.

People of all ages can ask questions, connect with their communities, and celebrate cynefin and heritage in safe and inclusive spaces. By sharing experiences honestly and openly, we build empathy and respect for international communities.

Most importantly, Global Learning is about action. Together we imagine solutions, strengthen relationships, and create pathways towards change; shaping an outward-looking, collaborative Cymru that shines for all.

Seren Network and Cymru Global MockCOP, March 2026

Opportunities like these are so important. If we want young people to learn how to problem solve and mediate different points of view, we have to give them practice and great role models. What I love about days like these is the learning that takes place from the beginning of the day to the end. It really allows people a chance to be part of a process of transformation […]

Exploring Gender and Fairness

Inequalities, whilst varying in severity and geography, are symptoms of the same disease.  The roll back of women’s rights is happening everywhere yet it is only when we look at the global picture that the trend becomes starkly apparent.  The continuing issues that this world faces with discrimination not only against women, […]

Why It’s Good to Care

It hit me this week that these are the parts of caring for someone that are seldom spoken about or celebrated. Nobody writes songs about the way that caring can be getting up early, grumpy and cantankerous.  You don’t see glossy Hollywood comedies about that morning at the swimming pool. […]
